if you use heat protection products (i can recommend L'oreal tec hot style iron finish, Schwarzkopf zero frizz perfectly straight, and anything by the GHD brand-this is the best but most expensive) do a protein treatment once a month or so your hair should be perfectly fine!
ive been straightening mine (with a 280 degree GHD), as well as chemically straightening it, for 6yrs now and it still feels nice, is healthy and hasn't fallen out or anything.
maybe try and blowdry it straight as this is much better for your hair.
next time you get your hair cut get a blow dry, its not much extra if at all.
hope this helps =)Hair Straightener?!?
Buy Tresemme instant heat tamer styling spray or Loreal Paris Studio heat seeker Hot straight. These product will protect your hair before you decide to straighten them. Use a straightener on dry hair because wet hair straightening = split ends. If you dont have a straightener use a blow dryer- basically you pull all of your hair into layers blowdrying it downwards. This straightens it pretty well but a straightener is for quick jobs.
And your mom is right about it damaging your hair. I straighten my hair a lot so I have to use paul mitchells gloss drops because my hair is so dried out from it. I wouldnt recomend the gloss drops because it's expensive and it can make your hair greasy if you put more than 2 drops in.
I hope this helps :)
I have been straightening my hair for about 9 years. I also have been straightening my 11 year old daughters hair and now she is starting to do this herself. I can tell you that I neither one of us has damaged our hair at all. I am very particular about my hair and have found the following to be true.
There are a lot of great products that you can use and some of them have already been mentioned, you can find them in just about every price range too. I use a good conditioning treatment before straightening and then I use a glosser or a shine spray afterwards. One more thing that also helps is that you should try not to wash your hair everyday. Washing and drying your hair are big culprits in creating damage. See how long you can go without letting your hair look greasy. All hair is different and can go without washing for various times, however you want to make sure that you don't cross this line. My daughter can go for three days and I can go a little longer. On the mornings that you don't wash your hair you can just run the straightening iron through it for just a couple of minutes and it should look fine.
I think that you should go to your mom after you have read all of these answers and tell he that you have done your research! Tell her about the products that you can use and agree that you will try to not wash and dry your hair as much.
Good luck and I hope that it works out for you!
Doing it one time will not damage your hair. You need to do repeaditly like everyday then you'll start to see damage. Just use heat protecter so your hair doesn't get damaged. Tell her you just wanna see how it looks and one time won't do anything but make you look spicy :P
at any store really they have stuff for your hair so that way when u put the straightener to it it doesn't burn your hair i use it and it works good ( they have a lot at whal mart that's were i got mine)
tell her that you will use the protectant spray (it protects your hair from the heat) and you won't straighten it all the time. Also tell her that u really would like a new look for school
If she won't let you use a straightener, get some good straightening cream and blow dry your hair straight using a paddle brush. Or a round brush to flip your ends in or out and give your hair good volume.
:)
tell her you will use this

it protects your hair from the heat
my sister is the same age and she used her friends and then came home and showed my parents and then she told them there are sprays that she can use before she straightens it that doesn't damage your hair I hope this helps
Im a Master Cosmetologist. (Hairdresser) As long as you use a thermal protection spray--your hair will be fine. Your mom is just thinking you will ';outgrow'; the desire.
Tell her that you can buy sprays/creams to protect your hair so it doesn't get damaged. I've straightened my hair for about 3 years now (using sprays and creams) and my hair still has its healthy shine.
i use a hair straightener and my hair isnt damaged. just ask her to get you a special kind that wont damage your hair.... the cheap ones probably will though
Buy a heat protecting spray.
I use Sleeks products. I get the iron smoother and it definitely does protect your hair from the heat.
