Hair straightener?

i want to ask my parents for a hair straightener for christmas, and i want to get a really good quality one, with the little bumps to comb thru your hair while you straighten. what kind you reccomend and find works the best and is not too expensive?Hair straightener?
Well you don't really need a good quality one... Most of them are the same. You just have to heat it up really well I've learned. Otherwise you keep going over the same spots and over and you get really damaged hair. Anyways.... I'd say your safe with any brand you can get at a drugstore..Hair straightener?
Don't listen to the other answer they are different coming from a salon. They have higher heat settings and are of higher quality. If you buy one from anywhere besides a salon they break or wear out quick. You don't need the teeth on one either. Try Paul Mitchells flat iron which is what I use and I have had mine over 3 yrs. It is a bit of an investment but well worth it.
I heard CHI was really good but I didn't get one cause it was expensive. I ended up getting a HAI for around $80 and it works really well. Try shopping at a beauty supply store instead of a drug store. Don't forget to get a heat protector spray for your hair cause straightening it often can cause hair damage..
I would have to say definetly a CHI. It will cost you about $100, but it is well worth the price. It's an amazing product that won't damage your hair and works great.
I have a Hot Tools one that I got from a salon, I've had it for about 3 years and it still works great. My friend bought the same brand of one from a discount store, and although she says it still works fairly well, she has to turn the heat setting up higher on hers than on mine to get the same quality. Also, she's only had hers for a couple of months so I don't know how long it will last. But even from a salon, you shouldn't have to pay more than $50 for a good long lasting straightener. I know most of the salons out there are pushing the chi irons which are well over $100, but I don't think it's necessary to spend that kind of money to get a good quality straightener.

mine has metal on it and it doesn't work very well, but one time i was at the mall and a lady used a hair straightener on me that was made with ceramics and it worked really well. as far as which one i couldn't tell you, but remember CERAMICS
i think the best straightner is CHI...but if you're looking for something not to expensive then i suggest you dont buy a straightner...i think you should use the iron (the one u iron your clothes with) what you do is get a towel or a thick material of clothing....and put it under a section of your hair and iron your hair like you would iron your clothes except without an iron board... and move your towel down as you move the iron down... it is much much faster than the straightner and it will stay much longer... and instead of a straightner you should ask for something else!!!!!
The ones with combs on the straightener are just a hassle, hair gets caught in them a lot. Brush your hair well before you straighten it, and use a good conditioner. One of my friends straightened my hair with a REALLY nice straightener, it was around $120, and it was amazing. There are many nice ones for less, though. I would ask the person who cuts your hair what a good straightener would be for your hair type. Many of the straighteners that salons sell are the best, but they usually carry good quality cheaper ones, too. Good luck!
I will tell you the best one for you. The Hot Tools model 1188 1'; ceramic flat iron. It's about $60.00 and has the same ceramic technology as most others that are double the price (IE the CHI Iron) plus it gets up to 430* which is quite a bit hotter than the CHI Iron, it has a rheostat (That is a guage to control the temperature....the CHI iron does not). The nice thing about ceramic technology is that it utilizes far infrared heat which heats the hair from the inside out....it's a much faster way to get the job done. Consequently, there is less contact time of the heat to the hair. Do not purchase a consumer item at the drug store as they simply do not get hot enough.
